In 1997 Peter retired from the main Board of Grand Metropolitan, where he had served as an executive director for four years, and held the position of group strategy director for ten years. Previously he had been CFO of D’Arcy-MacManus & Masius Worldwide, Inc, the international advertising agency in New York, and had also spent seven years at SG Warburg. He qualified as a chartered accountant at Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co. He now retains a number of non-executive directorships.
