By 2030 half the population of Western Europe will be aged over 50; by 2050, there will be 2 billion older people globally, 500 million of them aged over 80. The Oxford Institute of Ageing investigates the wide-ranging impacts brought about by this unprecedented shift from young to old, and makes policy recommendations for how government, business and society can and should respond. As well as examining the implications for medical and social services, the Institute looks at the wider impact of ageing populations on, for example, business practices, the family, politics and consumer behaviour.
