He joined SBC in 1988. Prior to that, he was with Bank of America and International Treasury Management, a division of Marine Midland Bank.  Jim is the creator of the acronym BRICs. Together with his colleagues, he has published much research about BRICs, which has become synonymous with the emergence of Brazil, Russia, India and China as the growth opportunities of the future. SHINE supports educational projects that work with disadvantaged, disengaged and challenged children across London and beyond.  Their programmes give children the extra support and attention they need to learn the basic but essential tools for life.  They also support projects that help talented children from poorer neighbourhoods to recognise, and then realise their full potential.  Since August 2000 SHINE has made grants of nearly £8million to help almost 14,000 children from over 460 schools in London and Manchester.
